Inflatable Lifejackets

Inflatable Life Jackets have the advantage of being light to wear with ease of movement.

Ideal for the yachting and sports/power boating and RIB markets. An inflatable life jacket is designed to remain compact until full buoyancy is needed. The buoyancy is provided by activating the CO2 cylinder that inflates air tight chambers contained inside the lifejacket.

The 275N rating life jackets are designed for use in severe weather conditions and sports such as ocean racing and where heavy clothing is worn. Typically these require a 60g CO2 cylinder

150N life jackets are the most popular and suit many activities as well as being widely used by instructors and teachers.Typically these utilise a 33g CO2 cylinder. Some manufacturers are now producing lifejackets utilising a 38g cylinder to provide extra buoyancy e.g the Crewfit 190N and Seago 180N, however, for EN compliance purposes they are still classified as 150N (EN396)

Do I need a Harness?
The harness feature is designed primarily for sailors, who spend considerable time on deck and require to be attached to their vessel by a safety line.

Non-harness lifejackets are lighter and preferred by motorboat/RIB users who are not as exposed and do not need attachment to their vessel.

Manual or Automatic Lifejacket?
Manual lifejackets inflate by pulling the lanyard to activate the inflation mechanism. These are preferred by users who want to avoid accidental inflation e.g light aircraft users. The Automatic version will inflate when it comes into contact with water and therefore inflate even when unconscious. It also has a lanyard for manual inflation as a backup.
